Taken by a photographer who describes the Shard as London's anchor in a city with a "total lack of geometry", they capture a beauty amid the urban chaos.

New Yorker Vincent Laforet snapped the pictures from a helicopter 6,000 feet above the capital earlier this month as part of a project that sees him visiting several major European cities.

Speaking to the Standard from Berlin, he explained why London was one of them.
