Actor Omar Sharif has Alzheimer’s

Omar Sharif, the famed actor who starred in “Doctor Zhivago” and “Lawrence of Arabia” has Alzheimer’s disease, the star's agent confirmed the news to the Associated Press.
The Egyptian-born actor, 83, was also among the world’s most famous contract bridge players, co-writing a column on the game widely syndicated by the Chicago Tribune.

The AP said Sharif’s agent, Steve Kenis, provided no further detail on Sharif’s condition. His son, Tarek Sharif, first made the announcement in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, according to the AP.
